Extrema Terra Expeditions is dedicated to offer experiences in some of the most inhospitable, wild, and fascinating landscapes of the planet.
Operated by the Microbiologist & Arctic Guide Beatriz Albiol, Extrema Terra Expeditions is the umbrella for a set of divisions, each one specialized in safety for a specific type of extreme environment.
CryoTerra Expeditions is the first active division of Extrema Terra. Based in the High Arctic, it focus on the world of ice, on the northernmost inhabited place on the planet, Svalbard's Archipielago, at 78º N.
The Beginning

Extrema Terra was born from the drive of two scientists from Barcelona who once travelled to the Arctic… and decided to stay. What began as an adventure became a way of life: to explore, understand, and share the most extreme and awe-inspiring corners of the planet. Today, that vision shapes a bold new company dedicated to crafting unique expeditions and experiences in the planet’s most inhospitable and challenging environments.
The Team

Beatriz Albiol – Founder & Expedition Leader

Bea is a biologist specialized in microbiology and advanced studies in astrobiology. With years of experience in the High Arctic, she combines a strong scientific background with hands-on polar guiding, especially through snowmobile expeditions. Her work merges science and exploration, using the Arctic as a natural classroom to understand how life adapts to extreme environments — offering valuable insights into the interconnected disciplines of polar sciences, survival, and safety in remote regions.

As the founder of Extrema Terra, she brings a sharp eye for expedition planning, risk management, and group dynamics, with a style that blends curiosity, with safety, fun, human connection and a warm leadership approach that makes people feel both confident and inspired.
Carlos I. Mac-Cragh – Expedition Guide

Carlos is a physicist with a strong foundation in astronomy, astrophysics, and quantum physics. He brings a highly analytical mindset to the team, combined with deep field experience in Arctic environments. With prior military experience and certification as a climbing instructor, he’s particularly skilled in terrain navigation, situational awareness, and field logistics. He also operates the company’s drone systems, capturing stunning aerial footage to document and share each journey.
Carlos shares with Bea a solid expertise in expedition planning, survival, and field safety. Together, they form a complementary team — blending scientific knowledge, technical precision, and a shared passion for creating meaningful, safe, and unforgettable polar adventures.
